DM10X mesh vs. Crimson mesh
« on: September 24, 2016, 02:45:14 PM »
About to pull the trigger (pun intended). Can pick up a new crimson kit for rough $150 cheaper than a new 10X kit. Which would you choose and why?
Thanks in advance,
Paul

The Crimson kit should be OK as it allows importing samples (16MB total) and individual kits can be saved and loaded.
Also check out this similar module: http://www.mecldata.com/download/manual/AW_DD650_manual_G04_150923.pdf
Alhough I prefer the DM10 with useful extras like A/B instrument layers, Dynamic velocity controls, Comp effects, Spline trigger curves, etc: https://united-music.by/pub/manuals/1957/Alesis_dm10_manual.pdf
Either kit could be combined with a Strike module (or equivalent), if larger size shells aren't a priority.

Thanks for the response rhysT. I ended up going with the DM10X mesh kit. Got a discounted price that put it in the same ballpark as the Crimson kit. I guess I was leaning toward the DM10X all along, with the main advantage I saw in the Crimson kit was the ability to import wav samples. I can probably figure out some way to accomplish something similar using a DAW and a mixer with the DM kit. Thanks again for your input.
