Hi Hellfire !!
I purposely kept one harness for the best interest of DM8 owners and selling it on ebay it for a couple bucks makes no sense as I had seen a lot of interest here for the pinout and could put it to better use.
I don't think the manufacturers took into consideration of what is the consumer going to do if/when these harnesses go bad, road-wear or get lost.then again as in my industry (Harley Davidson aftermarket for 30 years) it may have been calculated into the "end of life" of the product and they figure eventually you'd have to go out and/or purchase another product/upgrade.
It seems the harnesses have become like "hens teeth"as far as replacements go.
I plan on milling the top and bottom down to expose it like a cross section leaving the cables attached and then photograph/diagram.
I just have to make time to do the tooling to hold it which can also be used to machine a housing (possibly a 2 piece so then it would be possible to just add cables, the 25 pin connector and clamp together)
I have also taken some measurements and once I have an idea of the interior I may run it thru my 3D printer.
The DM6 expansion cable got my attention as it seemed possible you can add triggers, but being unfamiliar with the DM6 module I wondered how you would access these, then I noticed the diagram for the expansion cable showed the Hi-Hat and Hi-Hat control were now in the harness but the standard DM6 (7) cable diagram didn't show either one? yet there are (9) indicated on the face of the module. So the original DM6 with the standard harness didn't have Hi-Hat capabilities?
It could also be the New England diagram for the original harness is wrong and had Hi-Hat capabilities and later you added 2?
why is it then considered an "expansion" cable? It should have come with (9) with the original purchase.
It'd be like buying a car with a V8 and told you got it at the 6 cylinder price and later you'd have to buy a whole new harness to get the other 2 cylinders
Its all a bit confusing..lol
