Author Topic: MESH HEAD Methods aka COMPARISONS: Hellfire vs. 682 vs. Golf Ball vs. any other  (Read 3093 times)

BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH..... yes just like you I am shaking my head ... YET ANOTHER mesh question...

BUT, seriously... I've looked here and every single place except the "Dark Web" for a proper comparison of the various methods of converting a mylar dm10 set to mesh.

Has someone done a really really really good comparison of ALL the methods that could be available?  I have not seen one.
I just recently did convert one 10" using the "Golf Ball Method" one and thought it was totally cool... I would like to continue with the others... but before I dive into it my last kick at researching is NOW.

Does anyone have an excellent review on ALL the methods?  Hellfire... I totally appreciate you pioneering in the conversion.  I would totally trust your opinion on this subject matter if you could.

OTHERS - that I have not found yet????

Please and thank you everyone...

P.S. (not to go off this topic... but check out the thread I started on using TV soundbars for speakers... it's going well - but please don't discuss it on the "comparison" thread here http://www.alesisdrummer.com/index.php?topic=6725.0 )

I have the dm10 mylar kit too and I have not done any type of conversion -- yet. However, I must say I am intrigued by the method described in: http://www.alesisdrummer.com/index.php?topic=6794.0

I think it has stuck in my mind because it is simple, relatively inexpensive and doesn't require as much disassembly. So, even if it turns out not to work out, you're only out the cost of materials and can still try another approach.

Just my thoughts at this time,

Andy

Thanks Andy... I have added it to my list above and hopefully we will finally have a comprehensive list of different mods... and then maybe someone can actually compare them all in a "cage" match and see what is the best method overall...

After several hours of playing I'm pretty happy with the result.

I did mine a couple years back with 682 mesh heads. Ive found that the response is really good, the actual application of the heads wasn't too difficult, even for someone like me who doesn't have much skill with electrics, and still sound great.
